Monster Hunter Rise Announced For Nintendo Switch

A brand-new Monster Hunter is coming to Switch. During a Nintendo Direct Mini, the company premiered the trailer for Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise. It’s coming March 26, 2021.

A trailer showed the hero using grapple points to navigate around the open world and facing a series of fearsome beasts. You have a dog or wolf-like companion that you can use as a mount, and the characters were notably heard with English voiceover. An elder character warns of a calamity from a monster called Magnamalo, which appears to be the big-bad of this Monster Hunter.

Monster Hunter has gotten much more widespread recognition in the last few years thanks to the acclaimed Monster Hunter World, but Nintendo Switch has only received an enhanced port, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. It was fairly well-received but didn’t include any of the quality-of-life enhancements that seem to have made World such a hit.
